Dunder is the leave-behind in the rum making process, possessing much nastiness and foul substances. The greater number of fermentation cycles, the nastier it got. We call that “flavor”. Lol!

There is an old Polish saying “Niech to dunder świśnie”. Meaning “Let the thunder hits it”.
